5000 Training Kms

After the wind, rain & fog from yesterday, we left Pop’s Place at Blakeview in much better weather for a mid/late afternoon ride. The wind was up today and as usual, Pop likes to push into the wind early in our rides. We headed down to the Stuart O’Grady bike trail and pushed hard to Port Wakefield Road into the strong Southerly wind. We turned around and enjoyed tail winds all the way to Gawler. At 48 kms into the ride we just happened to go past the Maccas in Gawler, in for a quick chocolate milk shake and coffee for Pop, as always, the kind staff refilled our water bottles. Back into the wind now, we ended up cruising past the RAAF Base and through Creepy Street before heading for home. We took a long cut around Blakeview just so we could crack 90 kms for the ride. The big news of the day is, after 10 months of training we have passed 5,000 kms in 55 training rides. It’s now only 7 weeks to go before we push off from Docklands Melbourne for the big ride. Apologies for the error in yesterday’s post about the T-shirts the post has been corrected with the email address onthread.aus@gmail.com don’t miss this great opportunity.

Today’s stats 90.8 kms, 3hrs 34mins
