After a tough day yesterday, this morning we left the Big 4 Goldfields Holiday Park in Ballarat at 8.00 am this morning. Pop changed our route to include some country Victorian roads so we pushed off and headed out on Latrobe Street, turned into Ballarat Carngham Road. After solid hour we had our first break on the side of the road, good average speed at 24.7 kmph at this stage. The next hour took us through Trawalla Forest, I really enjoyed this section. The scenery was fantastic and there was no traffic, Pop and I could ride two abreast. Morning tea break after 52 kms was welcome with another roadside stop at Snake Valley. From there it was a short ride into Beaufort where we joined the main Western Hwy and headed towards Ararat. The road is fairly new along that stretch so the road was excellent to ride on, also we had a tail wind that really upped our average speed. Mum, Dad & Nan were waiting to give us lunch about 20 kms out of Ararat, which went down a treat, another roadside stop. The next section was fast, through Ararat and into Great Western where the others were waiting for our last break. The final push put us into Stawell on the Western Hwy. today we spotted a Wedge Tail Eagle circling above us, that was great to see. Super happy with our ride today, excellent average speed at 28.1 kmph, our fastest 100 so far. When we got to Stawell we put the bikes on the car and drove to Nhill so we could get to the border tomorrow. There has been some new developments regarding the border so shortly we will post a video explaining what we are now required to do.
Today’s stats 130kms 4hours 37 minutes
