Checking out Devils Elbow

Beautiful Saturday, great conditions for riding. Pop and I left his place early today with the intention of putting in a longer ride. Straight down to the bike trial, the Gawler circuit (just to add kms), then we headed south past the usual land marks. 53 kms in and Pop was keen for a coffee and a break so we stopped at the Maccas Greenfields. We called past Pops Church to refill the water bottles then pushed up Port Rush Road to the Toll Gate. We need to climb when we can so we headed up the Freeway trail to the Devils Elbow bend. 80kms in now, we were both starting to look for lunch, straight down Cross Road to Glenelg, a quick toilet break before stopping at the West Beach Chicken & Seafood. Pop ordered some hot chips with salt and a Greek salad, I had their famous Schnitzel Burger. Well feed and rested, Pop said we have 2 1/2 hours to get home because he needs to get a haircut. Up the coast we pushed, into Port Adelaide, through Wingfield, Parafield Gardens and Salisbury. I was starting to get a bit hot so we pulled into an OTR and I had a happy wash. 11 kms to go, we finished strong, a quick shower, off to the shops for Pops haircut. I’m looking forward to seeing everyone at Monday nights Schnitzel fundraising event at the Whitehorse Inn. Only 2 more Saturdays to do training rides before we head off to Melbourne, I’m getting excited 😊

Today’s stats 147.3 kms 6 hours 18 minutes
