Tour Down Under Challenge

What an exciting day! Very early start for Mum, Dad, Toby, myself & Pop. We arrived at Pop’s place at 6.00am where Pop had his car all packed with the bikes and stuff, off to Mount Torrens. It was good to see so many cyclists lining up to do the 78km Tour Challenge, young & old and everyone in between. Off we pushed with a large peloton which quickly thinned out as we climbed up the first hill just outside Mount Torrens. A few ups and downs before the big down hill into Palmer, I clocked 60kph. The road to Mannum was excellent, tail wind so our average speed was up. Just as we rolled into Mannum, Mum, Dad & Toby were there to cheer us on. From Mannum to Murray Bridge the wind was at our side and the road is like a roller coaster. A quick stop at a refreshment station 11 kms from the finish to refuel with some power aid and a banana gave us the energy to finish strong. Mum, Dad, Toby & Auntie Meg cheered us over the finish line. By the way I just beat Pop to the finish line. It was a tough ride today because we pushed hard all the way. we were happy with our average speed of 25.5kph. Can’t wait for next year! I was also really surprised today to get a video from Zane it was a message from Charlie Dixon, Scott Lynette and Jarrod Lienert you can see it on my Facebook page

Today’s stats 79.2 kms, 3hr 7mins
