Big Ride

This morning we left from Virginia and headed to the bike track and into Gawler. Then we made our way to the Jack Bobridge track through the Barossa to Angaston where we met Mum, Dakota and Nan for lunch. It was a tougher ride than ones I have done before because it’s uphill most of the way with some fairly steep hills and a bit of a head wind. When we arrived in Angaston after 3 hours and 45 minutes Pop & I were starving and really enjoyed our lunch but were feeling good and confident about our ride back. After about an hour we were ready to head back home. So off we went and the ride was going well until it was my turn to get a puncture just before Tanunda, Pop quickly replaced my tube and we were away again. Once we got through the roller coaster between Tanunda and Lyndoch it was a nice downhill into Gawler. We arrived back at my place and everyone was out the front giving us a cheer. It was 3 and a half hours to get back home. So our stats today were 7 hours and 15 minutes of riding time 133.5 kms. It was a really nice day not too hot, not too cold and the clouds covered the sun all day.

How do I feel? Hungry….riding makes me hungry. Pop and I are very satisfied with our effort and especially happy to have gotten some practise with the hills. Next weekend is Easter so we will be having the week off riding and will probably have a ride on ANZAC day.

  3. It is amazing that you are already doing over 100km in a day. Those punctures are annoying and always happen when you least want them to, but they are only a hiccup in the scheme of things.
